The 2000s were the last decade that most kids got to experience watching cartoons on TV. The Internet was there, but streaming wasn’t quite a thing yet. As 2000s kids, we watched whatever Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, or any other network threw at us. Algorithms didn’t shape our tastes, but whatever the network was airing at the time. And while we remember most of them, some we may have kept in the back of our minds. They may have had a short runtime or weren’t as good as the greats. That’s why we’re here today to honor underappreciated cartoons of the 2000s that you may have forgotten about.
#1: My Life as a Teenage Robot (2003-2009)
My Life as a Teenage Robot’s premise is in the name. A robot named XJ-9, or Jenny, fights the forces of evil while living her life as a high schooler. While it is fondly remembered by many, people do remember shows with similar premises, like Kim Possible and The Powerpuff Girls, a little more.

The show was on hiatus from 2005 to 2007 due to poor ratings but came back for a third season in 2008. However, it was canceled for good in 2009. There is hope for a continuation, however, as the creator, Rob Renzetti, released an ongoing comic in 2023 for its 20th anniversary. I think with AI, it may be time to revisit the show. Maybe Jenny has been upgraded to an adult robot with responsibilities.
