Sometimes, even if a show is still popular, they jump the shark. That saying comes from the Happy Days episode when The Fonz literally jumps a shark while waterskiing, and the rest of the show loses the logical thread. Although that show isn’t on this list, plenty of other series have had the same problem. Whether they’ve gone on way too long or had to switch gears and the show suffered, here are 21 shows that should have ended sooner (or at all — Grey’s Anatomy).
#1: The Office (2005-2013)
Look, I love The Office. I think it’s one of the best comedy shows ever made. But it absolutely should have ended when Michael left. Without that central figure, it felt more like a spin-off than the original show. How it managed to struggle on for two more seasons never fails to astound me. No matter how many times I rewatch it, it’s hard to get through the seasons post-Steve Carell.
