Remember when you could zap the TV channels and stumble across something shady or shocking? In the wildest days of television, networks occasionally aired content so controversial it vanished forever after airing once. If you missed it, tough luck. Some episodes disappeared due to unfortunate timing, others because they pushed the boundaries a little too far or were too progressive for the time. We’re here to recap some of these TV moments that were pulled down as soon as they hit our screens.
#1: Buffy the Vampire Slayer – “Earshot” (1999)
The storyline involved Buffy gaining telepathic abilities and uncovering a student’s violent plans for Sunnydale High. It sounds innocent enough, but this episode was pulled just days before its scheduled broadcast due to the tragic events at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Despite the episode’s anti-violence message, network executives felt the timing was too sensitive. They were probably right.
