Heart Attack Prone
Sig Hansen had two heart attacks, which is unusual for a captain. His initial attack in 2016 made for a tense television moment. Sig needed some luck to have survived so long on the high seas, and he was riding it throughout this medical emergency. He lived to tell the tale, but two years later, he found himself needing emergency medical treatment yet again.
In 2018, the captain experienced another heart attack due to an antibiotic allergy. Experts believe Sig would not have survived if he hadn’t been transported to the hospital 10 minutes later. He was saved by an EpiPen and made a full recovery in the hospital.
