Dramatization
When anything is labeled as reality television, we assume it is real. But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, one scene in Deadliest Catch wasn’t as risky as the show implied. In 2008, a strong storm threatened to sink one of the ships. While storms can take down entire fishing boats, that wasn’t the case in a 2008 episode.
In a month, the show taped storm footage after filming the ship in the water. The Deadliest Catch executives retorted that everything seen on the show is true. While that may be true, they may not occur in the order the showrunners would have us believe.
