Real-Life Impacts of Climate Change
There is no debate that environmental changes impact Deadliest Catch. After all, a sudden furious storm may devastate the crew, but it appears that global warming is the main problem that they have to deal with. As the temperature of the waters off Alaska rises, the crabs seek new, colder homes.
So, the fishing workers have to chase them into even more treacherous waters, where even greater storms rage. Fishing vessels are also putting themselves in danger by diving deeper into the waters. While Deadliest Catch avoids any political argument on climate change, executive producer Decker Watson says it affects everyone on the show.
