Gary Hobson had one of television’s strangest daily routines: wake up, receive tomorrow’s newspaper, and spend the rest of the day preventing whatever disasters appeared in it. An orange cat conveniently delivered the paper, because apparently time travel needed feline management. Kyle Chandler carried the show with an easygoing charm years before Friday Night Lights. The premise was clever, warm, and wonderfully pre-smartphone. Imagine receiving tomorrow’s news and still having to find everyone using a landline.
