The Pretender followed the gifted escapee as he traveled from town to town helping people while avoiding the mysterious organization that had exploited his abilities since childhood. The show mixed weekly adventures with an ongoing conspiracy story. It was popular enough to inspire television movies, yet rarely gets mentioned beside bigger 1990s dramas.
