#3: SeaQuest DSV (1993–1996)
Steven Spielberg helped produce SeaQuest DSV, which basically asked what would happen if Star Trek traded space for the ocean. Roy Scheider commanded a giant high-tech submarine exploring a near-future Earth filled with underwater colonies, political conflicts, strange sea life, and increasingly wild science fiction. The show began relatively grounded, then gradually embraced aliens and time travel. Apparently even the bottom of the ocean was not weird enough for 1990s network television after a while.
