The boombox symbolized everything about the young culture. We loved our music loud, and those in urban communities used boomboxes to bring the community together. They were big in hip-hop culture as well. When you think of ‘80s rap, you probably imagine one of those bad boys sitting on a stoop. Sadly, the powers that be gradually banned these things in cities. Plus, technology marches on. But I still fire up my old boombox from time to time!
