#7: VHS Tapes
The 2000s was the decade where we watched VHS tapes get phased out. DVD players, which were introduced in 1997 in the US, became more affordable. Some video game consoles, like the PS2, had DVD support built-in. And you could get entire seasons of The Simpsons on DVD, so people had to make the switch!

But many parents did not want to make the switch just yet, either for financial reasons or familiarity, and so many movies still came out on VHS until 2006. And there were advantages. You could scratch a VHS tape, and it wouldn’t skip. And when you turned off the movie because you had to leave for school, you could start up right where you left off!
