The 2000s were a decade of promise. Technology was evolving fast before our very eyes. The slow and primitive Internet quickly became something that ruled our lives. We were so eager to see what the future would bring. Now, two decades later, we’re longing for the past, with many younger Millennials remembering a time when you were in charge of the new digital age. (Just look up who the Time Person of the Year in 2006 was!) So, let’s look at 25 things from the 2000s we miss so much.
#1: The Classic iPod
Released in 2001 and discontinued in 2022 (I didn’t even know it lasted that long!), the iPod revolutionized how we listen to music. While not the first MP3 player, it was the first to go mainstream. I still remember those silhouette commercials, which still look great today!
There were many versions, with later models being similar to the iPhone. But we 2000s kids remember the classic design the most. That wheel was fun to use and had enough features to keep you entertained but not overwhelm you. And let’s not forget the fun it was to grab a burnt CD, put it in your disc drive, upload it to iTunes, and listen on your iPod. Oh, and it actually had an aux cord!
