#18: Rhyolite, Nevada
In just six months, Rhyolite became a thriving “Boom Town” with 10,000 residents. The town was filled with expensive buildings like swimming pools and opera houses, but it disappeared as fast as it appeared when the mining company failed in 1911. Among what’s left today is the unique “Bottle House,” constructed from 50,000 used beer and liquor bottles.
