You might think that going to school, getting a degree, and living on the planet for a few decades would give you first-hand knowledge of the things around. However, you’d be surprised by just how much stuff we don’t know. For instance, do you know what all of the shortcut keys on a keyboard can do? Or if you found an old skull on the beach, could you immediately identify which animal it belongs to?

If not, the best place to get your answers is on the Internet. And by the Internet, we mean Internet strangers who are experts at things you don’t know or probably never even heard of! Here are 50 instances where Internet users clued people in on what they were facing.

A mysterious mantle on the beach

Going to the beach is a relaxing weekend activity. However, if you ran into this thing, which appears to be the carcass of some mysterious animal, what would you do? One beachgoer in Dubai snapped a shot and uploaded it to the internet, hoping to receive answers. And answers, they did receive.

Apparently, this is the mantle of a cuttlefish, a squid-like mollusk that dominates the game of underwater hide-and-seek. They can change the patterns on their mantles based on their surroundings to avoid predators. The poor cuttlefish couldn’t find its way back into the water and suffocated.
