#36: Apostrophes Galore
We all know about contractions like “you’d” (you had) or “he’ll” (he will), but not many people realize that there are TRIPLE contractions out there. That’s right, the English language gets more insane by the minute. A normal contraction is a combination of two words, but triple contractions conveniently combine three separate words into one. With one of these, you can say a whole sentence in a split second.
These four words are some examples of triple contractions. Someone pointed out that you have to live in the South to understand these contractions, but we think y’all’d’ve known pretty quickly what they mean! Everyone has probably used a triple contraction when speaking, but it’s weird to see it spelled out on the screen.
