By 2024, I would’ve thought that people understood something as basic as when to write their text in columns and when in rows. Sure, there are all sorts of graphic design principles that your Average Joe hasn’t quite internalized yet, but figuring out which direction your sign will be read shouldn’t be one of them.

I thought we were not living in the world of yesteryear, where beautiful messages attempting to mitigate people’s loneliness could be easily misconstrued as the exact opposite simply because of a lack of design sense. I was mistaken, and I will have to reassess my take on the nature of humanity.
