As kids, most of us thought off-brands were the worst thing imaginable. There was nothing more embarrassing than wearing those knock-off Nikes to school. Now that we’re adults, we get it. Off-brands are usually just as good as the big-name brands and much more affordable. There are more than a few off-brands that bring big belly laughs to shoppers everywhere. These off-brands either try way too hard or don’t try at all. Love them or hate them, off-brands of our favorite products will always be around. We might as well have a good laugh about them! Here are some of the strangest, funniest off-brand products people have found while out shopping.
#1: Mmm, Maltitos
To some, this might look like any old bag of chocolate candy. However, true fans of the real thing will quickly spot these Maltitos for exactly what they are: knock-offs. These chocolate malt bites are a rip-off version of the beloved Maltesers candy brand. If you look it up, you’ll quickly see how this off-brand tried its best to copy the original.
The color and packaging look almost exactly the same. If you aren’t careful, you can easily drop these in your cart instead of the name-brand version. The jury is out as to whether or not Maltitos are just as good as the more expensive name-brand version. It’s kind of hard to mess up malt crunch balls, though.
