With over 40 seasons and counting, Jeopardy! is such a popular and prolific quiz show that its name has almost become synonymous with the very concept of a quiz show. #1: The show was initially pitched as “What’s the Question?” due to its distinctive answer-and-question format.
I suppose in the 1970s, it seemed a whole lot more logical to name a quiz show with the incredibly unimaginative title “What’s the Question?” but it might lack a little bit of the pizzaz that Jeopardy! has. Anyway, it could’ve been confusing if contestants thought that they needed to guess the question and not the answer to it.
