#37: What Kind of Bears?
Koalas are adorable, gray, fuzzy animals native to Australia. A lot of times, you’ll hear an American call them “koala bears.” They do resemble little bears at a quick first glance, but koalas are koalas. They are not bears, nor are they in the bear family. Where did the “bear” addition come from, then? Try telling an American that, and they’ll adamantly disagree.

Apparently, Americans calling koalas koala bears dates all the way back to the 1700s when they first discovered them. Get with the times, Americans! That was centuries ago! Honestly, we can’t fault the Americans too much because this tweet is right about this being a cute aspect of American culture!
