#25: Leaving the Nest
Many Americans strive to move out of their parents’ houses when they hit the age of eighteen or go to college. Why eighteen? Eighteen is considered the legal adult age, so many Americans feel like it’s time to spread their wings and fly. Some leave for college, while others feel as if they are ready to try adulthood out on their own.

This has to be a pretty hard moment for parents, but they understand the situation nonetheless, and support their children. Some American parents go through the empty nest syndrome, meaning they’re sad when they’re home without children. However, parents understand and refrain from persecuting their children for leaving home. This situation is definitely unique to American culture, though.
