#17: England = Elegant
If you ask an American what their impression of England is, they’ll more than likely comment something along England’s lines being posh, elegant, or classy. Not only that, but Americans are often under the impression that everyone throughout England sounds exactly the same and have the same accent.
If you’re from a different country, it’s not always obvious that accents differ by region. However, England indeed has many different accents and dialects. Americans just happen to find their accent attractive because they speak English, but perhaps in a more sophisticated-sounding way. Do the English find American accents sexy? Based on the number of British people making fun of American accents, maybe not!
