Things most people don’t know about the White House

The White House has a secret bowling alley. The first lanes appeared in the West Wing basement in 1947 under Truman. Later, Richard Nixon built a new underground lane beneath the building now called the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

It gave presidents and staff a way to relax in private. It’s a surprising touch of fun in a place mostly known for serious work and historic decisions.
