Okay, hold it just a minute. I’m usually pretty good at taking criticism, but I do feel just a little bit attacked, so there are a few things I would like to straighten out. Yes, us [relatively] younger folks are somewhat more wasteful, less respectful, and caring for our things – all true.

However, it absolutely must be acknowledged that our things aren’t made to last. It’s common knowledge that corporations prioritize cost over quality, deliberately manufacturing inferior products that cost them less and need replacement more frequently. So yes, we could repair our shoes a bit more—but they could also be built a little better.
