Huge Sinkholes in Turkey
Sinkholes are real, and they are pretty intense too. Take a look at this picture from Turkey, which shows sinkholes first-hand. These kinds of skin holes, at least in Turkey, are caused by groundwater use. The water is at least put to good use, as it is often used for irrigation and other crops. On the downside, it has led to intense sinkholes.
Some of these sinkholes have been known to be shallow, but others have reached depths of nearly 500 feet. Seeing something like this might make you reconsider the source of your water, and could lead to alternatives.
