The War Beach
“Freedom” is an ironic word, mostly because it’s something that has always come at a price. Soldiers protect nation-states across the globe, many of them are away from their families, friends, and loved ones for months, sometimes years at a time.
These two photographs are a resounding confirmation of that fact. Above you see a beach infamous for one famous world war battle, D-Day. You’re looking at Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer beach, in the Normandy region of France. Back in the 1944s, it was called Juno Beach. It was also filled with tanks and airplanes. Today, less than 70-years-later, it’s a holiday attraction.
