Easter Island Statues
You have seen these statues on Easter Island, located in the Southeastern Pacific Ocean. I am sure of it, they are quite famous. Today there are about 1,000 of them on the island, carved by the Rapa Nui people between 1250 and 1500 Common Era. There are two striking elements to this photo.
Did you know that the moai statues are not just heads? They are full-body. They are also quite massive, literally huge. They stand about 13-feet-tall, with the tallest moai reaching over 33 feet tall. It weighs 82 tons, truly massive and impressive work from ancient people.
