An event as significant and tragic as 9/11 is bound to earn plenty of speculation and conspiracy theories. But while many of these theories are completely unbelievable, this one is a bit more realistic. It suggests that the mafia had an unintentional role in bringing down the towers years before the attack took place.

Theorists who subscribe to this theory believe that the mafia controlled the construction companies and the inspectors while building the towers. As a result, the buildings were not entirely up to code regarding their structural integrity. As such, a plane crashing into them was more than enough to cause them to crumble.
