I’m convinced
I would like to take the time to thank the person who wrote this strangely elaborate sign. Although it doesn’t give us the necessary information, that is, what’s behind the gate and why shouldn’t we cross it, it does explain rather articulately and elaborately what’s going to happen if we do get caught crossing this bridge. It isn’t really anything dangerous, but an extremely long and boring process.
A simple “do not cross” would have probably been enough to most people, but this is Texas we’re talking about, a place where everyone is above the law, and people aren’t afraid of taking risks. On the contrary – after saying “do not enter the dangerous area beyond this gate,” people might get curious as to what’s the danger, and the more adventurous ones would see this as a fun challenge. This is probably why this elaborate sign was needed.
