Not everyone is going to feel the same way about every TV show. Not even Doctor Who, which first aired in 1963 and has a Guinness World Record for being the longest-running sci-fi show. Fans of the show have seen cast members and entire production teams come and go, but Doctor Who is still going strong.
That doesn’t mean fans aren’t going to point out the controversies of the show, of which there are many. Let’s take a look at a long list of Doctor Who controversies over the decades.
#1 Kill the Moon
Among the newer episodes in the reimagined series, “Kill The Moon” has been criticized by some viewers. In this episode, the Doctor and Clara must deal with a mysterious alien that has taken up residence inside the moon. The Doctor and the T.A.R.D.I.S. leave about halfway through the story, leaving Clara to make the tough choices about the moon and the alien on her own.
As a result, Clara is estranged from the Doctor for the rest of the series, and there has been much discussion among viewers about whether or not it was a good idea to set up such an adversarial dynamic between the two characters. Furthermore, the episode’s twist wasn’t particularly satisfying, as many viewers felt Clara’s decisions ultimately didn’t matter.
