#16: Plants React as Though Night Has Fallen
A flower does not rely on brightness alone. Light levels, temperature, moisture, and an internal circadian clock all help determine when it opens, closes, turns, or changes its rate of photosynthesis. During an eclipse, those signals suddenly disagree. Some leaves fold or droop, certain blossoms begin closing, and photosynthetic activity can fall sharply as usable sunlight disappears. Other plants refuse to perform their full nighttime routine because their internal clocks still insist it is daytime.
