Losing weight is a common goal for so many people for health, personal, goal, or other reasons. It’s also a common part of celebrity culture and life because of the pressure to look their best or look presentable to public eyes. However, there are lots of controversial or unusual ways that famous individuals have lost weight either quickly or steadily that have many of us discouraged, confused, concerned, or downright angry.
Here are some of the most unusual ways celebs lose weight to give you an idea of why people feel this way about some celebrity weight loss methods as well as what probably isn’t the greatest idea to try yourself.
As with most diet fad cultures, overly restricting an individual’s food intake to lose weight is a common occurrence in celebrities. For example, Natalie Portman had a time that included eating very little and repeated foods like almonds and carrots. And Anne Hathaway had to consume less than 500 calories a day for a role. It’s important to note that over restriction of foods is dangerous and not recommended without help from a professional.
Celebs like Beyonce or Matthew McConaughey as well as others have partaken in the liquid diet idea for quick and extreme weight loss. Beyonce drank only water with additions like lemon, pepper, or maple syrup for two weeks with some solid food in the form of veggies to lose weight for her role in Dreamgirls. Matthew lost over 40 pounds in 4 months by consuming mostly just liquids in his diet, which he’s said was incredibly hard mentally to do.
Just A Smell?
Madonna has an interesting take on losing or maintaining a low weight that she says is used only when needed not constantly. She cooks or makes food, but only smells it in the air instead of eating it. She instead eats salted water made into soup as her sole “food” item for as long or as often as she feels is needed. It’s a very unique take on diets, and she’s spoken about it quite often in the past.
Baby food is an emerging trend for weight loss due to the ease in digestion as well as smaller portions that it forces on you when choosing it, plus baby food is usually high in nutrients and variety that most adults don’t get in their daily diet. Celebrities have used this method before, and Reese Witherspoon even spoke up that she consumed baby food for her diet after childbirth to get in shape and lose weight.
Nobody is sure how this applies to weight loss or management, but Christina Aguilera has certainly had some odd eating habits that she talks about. She says each day she has to have something of each “type” of food-crunchy, soft, hot, and cold-and the foods have to all be the same color for the day. It’s not something that makes much sense to fans or listeners, but most people just assume it must work since she has lost weight and continues to maintain her figure.
Celebs typically have the money and ability to have personal trainers or other experts in their lives for trying to lose weight or be healthy that makes most people think that they’re knowledgeable in these topics. But sometimes famous individuals can prove our trust or hope in them to be wrong, as is the case with some of the weight loss or health stories that some celebrities have.
However, these interesting and odd ways that celebs have lost weight aren’t inherently great or awful methods to be able to reach their goals, just ones that caught our attention and the attention of many confused fans.
