This one isn’t very original, but it never gets old. Since the dawn of time, sports fans’ biggest enemy has been the referee. No matter which side you’re on, the referee is always secretly rooting for the other team. No matter which side you’re on, the referee is never on the same side. No matter which team you support, the game is always fixed, and the odds are against you, the world is against you and the referee is against you. Isn’t that so?
Talking about getting personal, the one person that has it worst – worse than the teams’ players and worse than the fans – is always the referee, because blaming the referee’s poor judgment when your team doesn’t perform as well as you’ve hoped is easier than switching teams.
