#23: The Crickets (1957)
Led by Buddy Holly, The Crickets combined country charm and R&B rhythm into rockabilly magic. “That’ll Be the Day” made them stars and inspired countless musicians, including The Beatles. Holly’s death in 1959 ended a brilliant run, but their self-contained band model became rock’s blueprint. Their legacy lives on in every garage band that followed.
