#20: The Flamingos (1953)
The Flamingos perfected elegant doo-wop with lush vocals and refined arrangements. Their 1959 version of “I Only Have Eyes for You” remains one of the genre’s most beautiful recordings. Their shimmering harmonies and romantic tone defined 1950s slow-dance culture. Though often overshadowed by bigger names, their sound still inspires modern R&B ballads today.
