Known for their haunting ballad “Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight,” The Spaniels gave doo-wop one of its first national hits. Their harmonies balanced emotion and control, creating a timeless classic later featured in countless movies. Originating from Indiana, they proved great R&B could come from anywhere. Their influence echoed through early rock and vocal pop.
