Barbara Payton was once one of the most promising starlets in Hollywood, co-starring with James Cagney in Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (1950). However, her chaotic personal life (filled with publicized affairs and substance use) destroyed her career. Payton turned into a tragic story of the studio system, eventually writing a frank autobiography titled I Am Not Ashamed (1963). She passed away in 1967 at just 39 years old.
