#15: Son of Batman (2014) – Jason O’Mara
Jason O’Mara’s Batman became a major presence in DC’s interconnected animated movie continuity, beginning his substantial run in the role around the era of Son of Batman. The film forced Bruce Wayne to confront a challenge fundamentally different from stopping Gotham criminals when he discovers that he has a son, Damian Wayne, who has been raised by the League of Assassins. O’Mara’s restrained, authoritative Batman suddenly has to function as both mentor and father to a child already trained to kill, creating tension between Bruce’s moral code and Damian’s violent upbringing. Their relationship exposes Batman’s difficulty with emotional intimacy, because tactical expertise offers little preparation for parenthood. The story also expands his world beyond Gotham by connecting the Wayne family directly to Ra’s al Ghul, Talia, Deathstroke, and the League’s international conflicts.
