#3: Richard Gere’s Early Exit from The Lords of Flatbush
On a small 1970s production full of leather jackets, young ambition, and future fame, one casting change happened before the public knew how much it would matter. The Lords of Flatbush (1974) originally had Richard Gere in its ensemble, but tension on set became impossible to ignore. The best-known version of the story involves a clash with Sylvester Stallone, long before Rocky (1976) turned him into an American underdog icon. Gere was replaced by Perry King, and the film moved forward without him.
