#6: Papyrus, Season 43
There are some SNL skits that, for some reason, take on a whole life of their own, as if they are their production. Seeing as many skits have such excellent production value, this shouldn’t necessarily be shocking. However, Ryan Gosling’s “Papyrus” became so popular that even James Cameron commented on its genius.

In true Saturday Night Live style, the skit follows a character who is completely consumed by the font used for the cover art of the film Avatar, Papyrus. It is all-consuming for his character, who goes on to stalk the poster’s creators. This sketch is utterly over-the-top in the best way and reminds us just how special SNL is.
