The 1964 World’s Fair predictions that were right

The fair was carried on the back of belief in the “Peaceful Atom,” the hope of nuclear energy as cheap and unmetered. We still meter electricity in 2026, but the new developments in Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and the persistent dream of fusion power link back to that optimistic view. They even considered using nuclear power to dig new harbors during the fair, which is a good thing they never did.
