#12: Teachers Are People Too
It was always so weird to bump into your teachers outside of school, right? Maybe that says something about how self-focused children are; they are genuinely surprised and confused to find out that the people around them have lives of their own that go on when they are not in the child’s presence.
It never occurred to me, though, that it could be equally weird for the teacher. I think it would drive me crazy to know that I always had to watch what I was doing, knowing that if one of my students caught me grocery shopping in my pajamas, the next day it would be all over school how unprofessional I am when off the clock. That’s just stressful.
