#22: Battle of Long Tan – Vietnam War

In 1966, Australian forces fought a large Viet Cong force during heavy rain near Long Tan. Under pressure, they called artillery support. With limited visibility and fast changing positions, a few early rounds landed too close and forced friendly troops to pull back.

Once the mistake was caught, artillery crews adjusted quickly and laid down accurate fire that helped turn the battle. Long Tan became a famous Australian victory, but those first misplaced shells showed how weather and fast movement could create dangerous moments.
