Imagine R2D2 Speaking English
We all know that R2-D2 doesn’t speak English at all. His way of communicating is through his beeps and whistles. This is a robot language that most of his friends understand, including C-3PO. But did you know that in the original draft of the Star Wars that was written in 1974, R2-D2 was supposed to speak in complete sentences?
Although, he will not be the same lovable goof that we have loved throughout the film. In the draft, he was actually a bully. He would constantly pick on his friend, C-3PO, and berate him with insults like, “You are a mindless, useless philosopher.” Probably one of the harshest things he said in the draft was, “You’re nothing more than a dim-witted, emotion-brained intellectual. Why you were created is beyond my logic systems.”
