A Gamer Mind
If you are a gamer you might be familiar with the PlayStation remote control which traditionally has four symbols on the right side of the control. This little detail when compared with the guards face symbols becomes a bit more familiar and it feels as if they copied the symbols from the PlayStation remote and put them on their masks. Only the ‘X’ was left without a face symbol, maybe those are the dead ones.
It’s an undeniable similarity so when games watch Squid Game they have a sense of the game in the series. I wonder what children would see if they associate their toddler shape shows to the PlayStation remote or to the Squid Game but it will be a long time before toddlers are allowed to watch a show like Squid Game. I guess basic shapes are just part of our life and the director knows that about his audience.
