#6: Detroit Pride
It’s not only athletes who can be proud of their sporting achievements. The cities they represent have a need to celebrate sometimes even more than the sportsmen themselves. In the town where I grew up, we’re eternally proud of our win in a duck race we held against the neighboring town in 1973.

So I can imagine it was probably an even bigger deal for Detroiters when not one but three separate sports teams brought home first place in the same year. It’s just a shame they didn’t enter their ducks into a duck race against Ann Arbor, or they could’ve been looking at four.
