It must be a real downer to be known for a negative statistic – the number of goals you didn’t score, the number of games you didn’t win, or, in George Blanda’s case, the amount of times you tried to throw to your teammate but didn’t quite manage. You’d have to take pity on the guy.
That is, if he didn’t have other titles to his name. Luckily for Blanda, he wasn’t only the interception guy. He also played the most ever seasons in the sport’s history and, at the time of his retirement, had the most points to his name. Just goes to show you can’t judge a player on one game or even twelve.
