#6: International Cherry Pit-Spitting Championship
Much like the pea-spitting championship, the cherry pit-spitting championship has hundreds of fans all around the world. The odds of spitting a cherry pit across a considerable distance without the help of any breath devices make it ten times more challenging than the pea one. We laud the Eau Claire, Michigan, farm that started this silly competition back in 1974. It takes in July every year on that very farm.
Even world records are made in a competition as weird as cherry-pit spitting. A guy from Arizona holds the record for a 72’ ½” spit! The best thing about this event is that it is a commencing activity for the annual tart cherry harvest. When you read about the people behind this competition, you cannot help but notice how this is a clever idea of disposing of the pits in a creative way.
