Mickey Rourke
Mickey Rourke started out training as an amateur boxer until 1971. He had the appearance of a very good-looking one indeed when he was in his youth. He started his acting career in the late 1970s, appearing in several TV movies. Rourke was first recognized for his role in Body Heat (1981) despite his part being pretty modest. He gained the sex symbol status when he starred in the erotic drama 9 1/2 Weeks (1986).
It was when Mickey Rourke decided to return to the boxing scene in the 1990s that he suffered several injuries. That included a broken nose and a compressed cheekbone. He needed reconstructive surgery on his face that resulted in a notable physical change that was later called “appallingly disfigured.”
