A-frayed Knot
Do you know what the hard tips on the ends of shoelaces are called? They’re called aiglets, and their primary purpose is to keep shoelaces, ropes, and string from becoming frayed. The thing is that they do a horrible job, despite serving only one purpose. At most, they stay relatively intact for a month or two before tearing off.

If you don’t want to replace your shoelaces after the aiglets have come off, just do what this person did. This person used old springs from broken electronics, coiled them around the shoelace, and set them in place with some glue.
