No More Crying in the Kitchen
Earlier, we said you can keep the waterworks down in the kitchen by moistening your knife’s blade before slicing into an onion. However, there’s another hack you can try, which we found to be a million times more effective. Just pop your onions in the freezer for 30 minutes before slicing them.
The freezer will turn the onion gases into a liquid, stopping it from going airborne and burning your eyes. You might want to use a mandolin slicer for this hack since it’ll cut the onion more quickly. That way, you can finish cutting your onions before the gas has a chance to go airborne.
